Before we begin

Introductory call

If you’re considering counselling with me, the first step is an introductory call. This offers a chance for us to chat briefly, for you to ask any questions you may have, and to get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. There is no fee for this call, and it usually lasts no more than twenty minutes.

Counselling agreement

If you decide you would like to continue after our introductory call, I will send you a counselling agreement (also referred to as a client contract). This outlines practical and ethical information, including confidentiality, boundaries, fees, and how we will work together.

Counselling agreements are a standard part of counselling and are there to help you understand what you can expect from counselling and from your therapist. If you’ve had counselling before, you may notice that agreements can vary slightly. This is okay, as different therapists may have slightly different arrangements - the important thing is that the agreement is there to support shared understanding and transparency.

The agreement will need to be read and signed before formal counselling sessions begin.

There is no obligation to book a session after the introductory call, and you are welcome and encouraged to take time to consider whether you would like to continue.
